Mommy and Daddy….or Casey and Sam

Laina has been saying the names of her her family, her dolls and her stuffed animals for a while, but she recently has shown more of an interest in calling everyone else by their name too. She has been practicing the names of her little friends as well as our friends. I can honestly say though, that there were a couple names that I just wasn’t prepared to hear her little voice say. Casey and Sam. She never fails to surprise us though! Just the other day, the three of us were chasing each other around after dinner, which is no different than any other night. Laina ended up “hiding” behind our kitchen table and was waiting for Mommy and Daddy to come “find” her. Sam had said my name before we reached the table…and when we glanced over the table to see her…she looked up at me and said “Casey.” Sam and I were floored. We laughed hysterically, so of course she then continued to repeat my name. It was the sweetest thing to hear her say my name. A few days later the looked at Sam and just casually said his name. She really is the funniest person I’ve ever met.
She has since reverted back to calling us Mommy and Daddy, but I have a feeling she might choose to drop our names here and there.
