Oh yeah and so do Sam, Casey, Laina, Elijah, and Austin…and Lemon

21 months

Well, this is a little late, but blogging has been put on the back burner a bit since this whole house hunting business started. Laina has been very patient with us over the past few months as we have been taking many more quick trips in the car to look at houses here and there. She sometimes “pretty houses” as we drive by.

As always, it seems unreal that she is yet another month older…and only 3 months away from being 2 years old! The last month or so, Laina definitely had a growth spurt. Usually it’s difficult for Sam and I to see any major changes in her physically because we are around her every day and the changes happen so gradually. However, this month, I remember seeing her one morning and noticing that she suddenly looked taller and leaner. Around the same time, she also started experimenting with more phrases/sentences. Speaking of, here are some of the ones that come to mind.

look at that….flag, baby, whatever Laina is pointing at =)
its adorable
it’s so cute!
let’s see (if) it works
going to beach, swimming pool

somebody poo pooed
ellie’s coming to get you
hold ellie’s hand
come on over ellie
ready, set, go!
running, hopping, skipping!!

Other new stuff:

– Singing! Actual singing! Laina has recently started singing along to the music she hears on the radio. On our way down to Cape Hatteras, “One more time” by Daft Punk was on the radio, and we heard her in the back seat singing along. She has also been singing along with me to “You are my sunshine” and “This little light of mine.” It just melts my heart to hear her little voice say, “You my sunshine…how much I love you.”
– Dancing! She’s done the typical bouncing up and down that seemingly every little one does, but now she is starting to practice different moves that actually look like dancing. I need to capture it on video because it’s just so fun to watch.
– Hopping and skipping! Especially when we are outside, she runs around saying “I’m hopping and skipping!” She gets very excited about this. And who wouldn’t?;)
-Sam and I now call her our little narrator. She likes to announce whatever it is that she is doing on any given moment. “I’m digging in da sand.” “I’m running.” “Laina going downstairs.” “Hug Petey.” “Climb on Daddy.” The list goes on and on.
-Sitting on our front porch is another one her favorite things to do right now. Many days, the two of us will sit on the porch together with bubbles and wait for Daddy to get home from work. And no, we definitely don’t stay on the porch for any length of time. This is also social time with the neighbors–Laina is especially excited to see her friends Jack and Luke as well as all of the neighborhood dogs. She likes to call their names when they aren’t outside.
-In addition to the hugs and kisses Laina hands out generously during our playtime before she goes to bed, she has added eskimo kisses and butterfly kisses to her repertoire. Love it, love it, love it.
