I love when Laina and I get to have the day to ourselves. That may sound silly since I’m a SAHM and I see her every single day, but most days we spend with friends/family (which is great, too!) But I really do cherish the days that we don’t really have any set plans for the day and we get to approach our day spontaneously and just plan as we go. On Monday, we got to have one of those days. We actually did have Tumbles in the a.m….but then we headed home and grabbed some food for quick picnic and then some time at the playground. It was such a beautiful day to be outside. After naptime, we decided to go to the animal shelter and visit with the kittens and puppies (and finally donate towels Nanny had given to us!) Laina was really sweet in the shelter…she literally wanted to say hello to every single one of the animals. So, that’s what we did…gradually making our way to each individual cage. She took a particular liking to the bunnies–probably because she’s never gotten that close to them before. After the shelter, we headed over to the library to return our books. She LOVES the library these days, and we ended up spending quite a bit of time reading through the books. Correction: actually, she read them to me. She picked out one at a time, and brought them over to me on the couch, told me the “story” and finished each one by saying “The end!” I’m pretty sure she would bring home the whole library if she could. An added bonus of going to the library was the we got to see Daddy since he was there studying :).
We concluded our evening by going out to dinner. Laina sat across from me, and for some reason I just got such a kick of this. Just made me feel like I was having dinner with my little pal. She no longer necessarily requires sitting next to Mommy or Daddy now…she’s just good to go on her own.
Anyway, it was just one of those days that I will hold in my heart.
