Arlington Co. Fair

There always seems to be a series of comedies in our household. The weekend started off with an 11:30 p.m. phone call from Sam–he was at his “Dad’s night out” with the neighborhood crew. Apparently, his friend’s car had been towed…so they had to call a cab to take them to the towing company, etc etc. So, approximate bedtime for Mommy and Daddy was 1:00 a.m. We just can’t hang like that anymore (especially my 8 month pregnant self!)…and of course, Laina graced us with her presence in our bed just before 6 a.m. Sam was nice enough to let me sleep a bit longer and took Laina downstairs to hang out with her. When I went downstairs, I was forewarned that Laina was alreay kind of “wound up” since she went to bed kind of late and got up pretty early. Okay, no big deal…we’ve had plenty of those days! So I decided it would be a good idea to suggest that we go the local fair. We decided that we should go despite the fact that Laina was a bit overtired. So we quickly got ready and made our way over. Took us forever to find parking…but we did nevertheless. As we were about to park the car, Sam and I discovered that neither of us had our wallets. Awesome. And, unfortunately not uncommon for us. So…what to do now? Laina is super excited at this point about the fair…and of course getting more and more tired/cranky. I’m annoyed with Sam for forgetting his wallet, and he’s annoyed with me for forgetting mine (which is just funny in and of itself.) We decide we are just going to press on and drive back to the house, grab our wallets, and head back to the fair. We explain to Laina multiple times that we will in fact be returning to the fair after we drive back to the house. Okay, so now we have our wallets….Sam and I are still annoyed at one another…and we continue back to the fair. Another 20 minutes of tracking down a parking spot, but we are finally there and ready to have some fun! After spending some time figuring out where everything was, Sam went to purchase the tickets. Laina finds a ride that she really wants to go on, so we stand in line and when it’s our turn, Sam realizes he can’t find the $20 pack of tickets he bought 5 minutes prior? Are you serious??? We look everywhere–and had no success. It’s 95 or so degrees outside…Laina is hot and ready to drive her little green car…Mommy is hot and probably swelling up like a balloon…Daddy is trying to maintain his composure. So, back to the ticket booth. Another round of tickets purchased, and we finally got to enjoy some rides at the fair! 😉 What a morning.
It was totally worth it to see Laina get such enjoyment out of going on her first rides by herself. Right?!
