two books before nap time, and three books before bedtime. that’s been our routine for quite some time….and then of course the spontaneous reading during the course of any given day. laina typically chooses the books we read, whether it’s a book we have at home or one we have checked out at the library. she tends to go through phases where she favors a few books for a long period of time. sally and the purple socks, roly poly pangolin, and the clifford books have been some of her favorite library books. currently, she is drawn to books with collections of stories inside…one of them being Snuggle Time Stories that Grammy and Granddad gave her. sam and i appreciate how she tends to get fixated on certain things in life, but i’m not so sure when it comes to this book. it’s basically a series of stories in which the baby animals refuse to go to bed at night and come up with many different excuses about why they need to stay up. last night as i’m tucking laina in, she basically told me she wasn’t going to close her eyes and was going to stay up instead. then she busts out with all the excuses that the baby animals used. “i need some warm milk,” “i need a bath” (even though she had one an hour earlier;…the list goes on!
it was very cute and very comical….we’ll see what tonight brings!
