Oh yeah and so do Sam, Casey, Laina, Elijah, and Austin…and Lemon

Three years old!

Clearly, I’m still pretty behind in keeping up with our family blog. These two little kiddos of ours keep us pretty busy :).
So, Laina turned 3 on October 8th, and we had such a fun time celebrating her birthday. Elijah was only a few weeks old, so we kept it low key (which always makes for a much more relaxing time!) We invited our family and friends to spend a few hours at the playground in our neighborhood…and of course, lunch followed by cupcakes :). Chocolate cupcakes, because Laina wouldn’t have it any other way!

At three years old, there are already so many layers to Laina. She caring and compassionate….in fact, her teachers shared with us that Laina went over to several of her classmates the first few weeks of preschool and comforted them while they were crying. She says things like “We’ll help you, we are your friend” at school.
*She has an imagination that just blow our minds. Listening to her play before naptime/bedtime happens to be one of my favorite things to listen to. You never know what she’s going to talk about. Sometimes she pretends to be a teacher, and all of her stuffed animals are the students. Other times, she’s putting her “friends” (again, stuffed animals) in time out or having a picnic with them. She’s constantly setting up scenes in her room…we just never know what she’s going to come up with.
*She’s curious, inquisitive, and adventurous. She’s always wanting to learn and explore. Always up for new experiences, and she typically unafraid to try new things.
*She can be slightly unpredictable at times :). Some days, she is as polite, agreeable, and cooperative as can be…and others, well….just the opposite :). I have to say though that we’ve had a lot fewer of the latter described days!

Some of Laina’s favorite things at 3 years old are currently:
carrots and dip, cupcakes, fairies, ballerinas, soccer, playing with her friends, ring around the rosie, playing dress up, stalling at bedtime, playing chase, The Princess and the Frog, cutting paper, accessories, her baby brother, going to restaurants (especially when she can get rice and beans!), wearing dresses and skirts together (every day), her broccoli shirt, the color green (and now sometimes blue and pink), the tire swing at preschool, eating a “snicky snack” in front of the tv, roly polies, singing to Elijah (she usually makes up her own songs), riding her red bike, hummus, BUTTER on anything and everything (and even plain), her tutu, really soft clothes, her grandparents, pretending to be a crocodile (and taking off her clothes because “crocodiles don’t wear clothes”), getting her back scratched by Daddy (the right way, the tickle way).

We love you Laina….can’t wait to see how you continue to grow over the next 3 years!!
