Ever since I really started showing, there has been a lot more baby talk around here…mainly initiated by Laina. I wrote down a few of the conversations a while ago (but of course haven’t blogged about them until now!)
L: Wow, I was really really wrong about you Mommy
M: What do you mean, Laina:
L: Well, I never actually thought you were pregnant…I just thought you were teasing.
But look at your belly! There really is a baby in there! It’s huge!
L: Mommy, I think I’m just a little bit pregnant
M: What makes you say that?
L: Well, my belly is just a little bit big.
*This took place when I was tucking her in. She then proceeded to stuff three stuffed animals in her nightgown, and pretend to give birth to each of them. “Here she comes….What should we name her?” We ended up with three additional family members that night. Sara, Dara, and Clara.
Laina also likes to talk about all of the things that she would like to share with the baby, whether it’s a boy or a girl. She has picked out some dresses and shoes that she wants to share with the baby if it’s a girl, and picked out a few neutral things that she wants to share if it’s a boy. She is talking more and more about the baby, and already treats the baby as though he or she is part of the family. She likes to draw things for the baby and pick flowers for the baby 🙂
At this point, Elijah has no idea what is about to happen to our family :). When we tell him that there’s a baby in Mommy’s belly, he lifts up my shirt and looks at my bare belly.
