“You know what my favorite holiday is Mommy?? HALLOWEEN!!” Laina talked about Halloween for months…looked at Halloween magazines, talked about which costumes she wanted to wear, how we should decorate our house, how we should carve our pumpkins, etc. She fluctuated a little bit this year when deciding what she wanted to be, but ultimately she went with a character from her favorite show. It didn’t stop there, though. She decided that we should all be characters from her favorite show. How could we argue. So, we were the Jake and the Neverland Pirates clan. Laina = Izzy, Elijah = Jake, Austin = Cubby, Mommy = Mr Smee, Daddy = Captain Hook. It was a memorable night! Our street has a tradition of gathering at someone’s house so the kids can play/break the pinata to kick off the night. Then the kids can go door to door with one another. Austin got to experience his first Holly Street Halloween for a short time, then he spent the rest of his evening snug in his bed while Grammy and Granddad handed out candy. Elijah made it to a handful of houses, and was ready to go home after he had a nice little selection of candy. He had more fun passing candy out with me and Grammy and Granddad. He said “Happy” to people and told them all “Bye bye” as they walked away. He became progressively more animated as the night went on :). Laina was in heaven since she got to hang with all the neighborhood kids and then meet up with her friend Clare. She probably would have stayed out all night! We’ll see what she has up her sleeves next year for the family :).
