Last weekend, we got an early start on Saturday to take the metro into DC to do some of the kids’ favorite things. The train ride is definitely one of them! Elijah has been fixated on trains since he was one, so you can imagine his excitement level when he actually gets to ride one! Both Laina and Elijah love the whole process–the escalators, elevators, watching the blinking lights when the train is approaching, and then of course being on the train and looking out the windows. They had a blast just getting into the city. Austin was busy making friends on our ride in, so I’m not sure how much he liked it. He was more focused on flirting with some lady!
Once we were there, we realized the Cherry Blossom Festival was going on, so we got to see some of the parade. After a short time doing that, we made our way over to the carousel for a few rides, and then we headed to the Smithsonian to visit the dinosaurs, mammals, insects and butterfly exhibit. We got to end our morning with lunch at our favorite Del Ray restaurant. What a fun day! So much fun in fact, that Mimi fell asleep on the train ride back home!
