Our little Austie turns 1

He’s our baby who is turning into a toddler right before our eyes. He’s our last baby, and we all treat him as such. This little guy could not be more openly adored by all of us, and I’m pretty sure Laina just wants to claim him as her own. Although he is completely doted on by his crazy family, he has also managed to develop a very distinct personality of his own. He is sweet and cuddly, but also charming and hilarious. He’s very social and likes to engage with anyone, whether it’s one of us, one of his grandparents, kids at preschool, or a random person at the grocery store. When we go out to eat, he spends most of his time waving to people at other tables and trying to get their attention rather than eating! He laughs a lot, and generally just seems to be in a good mood most of the time. For a while, Sam and I called him our little frat boy because he is always up for having fun, and he kind of has this deep voice and laugh for his age. What a character he is.
Some of his favorite things currently:
BALLS (just like his brother); saying “Wee-ooo” every time he sees a car/truck/train; watching his brother and sister play; eating avocados, bananas (whole, preferably), mozarella cheese, pasta with marinara sauce, gnocchi, and scrambled eggs; showing off some of his signs (mainly more, all done, milk, and bird); laying on the cats; making a growling/roaring noise each time he sees any animal; climbing the stairs; practicing standing alone and then intentionally falling backwards (and laughing about it!); playing outside and finding rocks;
Some words we’ve heard so far: Ma-ma, Da-da, ball, ba-ba (bottle), wa-wa (water), uh-oh (his favorite), na-na (banana), wow and woah

Some other cute little details about Minnum. He says “oooohhh” a lot, mostly when he finds a new toy, etc or wants to show something to us. He says “Ow” every time he sees Petey or Ellie–I think he’s trying to say “meow.” He really digs his bottle. He will lay on our laps totally relaxed and obviously thoroughly enjoying every ounce of his bottle. His seventh tooth just broke through (4 on top and 3 on bottom.) He loves playing in the “secret garden” at the kids’ preschool after we pick them up. He melts my heart when he looks at me and says “Mama”–I can hardly handle it.

We love you Tinny Tins. Happy Birthday to you on Thursday!!
