Growing Up. Letting Go.

“And now I must watch you go, officially a big kid. We will both be proud and brave. Our uncertainty will soon slip into confidence. You, my child, were not born to face the world, but to hold it in your hands. You will delight in the challenges and celebrations […]

Relaxing at the creek

Something we learned at the mountain house was that the kids could spend all day in the creek! Throwing rocks, wading in the creek, and exploring the nature center. We went to one of our favorite spots, this time with Grammy in tow!

Visiting Nana

It’s always nice to visit with Nana (and Charlie) during family gatherings, holidays, etc..but there’s something truly special about visiting them in their own environment. Nana enjoyed showing off her great grandchildren to her friends and the staff, and the kids quite enjoyed meeting everyone! We spent some time in […]

Neighbors

Having a close knit neighborhood has been invaluable. Afternoon impromptu play dates are the greatest..especially when the mamas can have a glass of wine!

Ravenwood Overlook!

This was our first trip to April and Jeremy’s beautiful NC mountain house, and it was certainly a treat! From walking onto the back deck and hearing the creek…to riding on the windy roads in the mule…to seeing the stars so clearly at night…to watching an amazing fireworks show–it was […]

Visiting Charlie

We were away for Charlie’s birthday, so that gave us a good reason to head on up to his place with some birthday cheer. The kids always love driving through the city, and they had lots of fun awaiting them at Charlie’s place. They loved checking out the tank and […]

Staying cool

It’s always fun trying new parks over the summer, especially if it’s a spray park! The kids enjoyed this one (Virginia Highlands), and I enjoyed it because it felt manageable :). We ran into E’s friends Hallie and Rebecca, which made our little adventure even more fun.

Camp out

What do you do when your A/C is broken and it’s super hot in your house? Pitch a tent in the air conditioned garage! Laina and Elijah made memories in the garage (with Daddy) and Austin and I stayed inside with all of the fans. Turns out the reason our […]

Paws to Read

Laina reading to “Wonka” at the local library’s Paws to Read program. It’s every two weeks–she loves it! Since we don’t have a dog, this will have to do for now :).
