4:30 a.m. Woke up from fairly regular contractions. Wondered if this was going to be the day we’d get to meet our new little Gammon! I had a feeling it would be based on the way I was feeling.
4:45 Went downstairs to watch tv for a bit while watching the clock to get an idea of how frequent the contractions were happening.
5:30 Went back upstairs to ask Sam to come downstairs with me. Started feeling a little anxious at this point!
6:45 Called my mom to tell her what was going on. Decided we should call my dad since he was going to be at work only a few minutes away. Told him that we thought this was probably the real deal!
8:00 My parents arrived to occupy the kids while Sam and I packed up a few things for the hospital. I called Karen, the midwife, to let her know what was going on. She told me I could stay home for a while longer but encouraged me not to wait too long since this was #3!
9:00 We headed to the hospital and the contractions were 4-5 min apart and getting stronger.
9:30 Arrived at the hospital and they admitted me. Contractions were 3-4 minutes apart. Sam set up our music and put the picture of our kiddos where I could easily see it 🙂
9:30-11:00 Walked circles around the hospital….taking breaks in our room in between.
11:00 Decided it was time to stay in the room and break from walking around. Did some squats and rocked in the chair …then decided I needed to lay down. Contractions were 2-3 min apart.
12:00 Asked Sam to call my parents to check in on the kids, etc. While he was on the phone, my water broke! The nurse went into the hallway to call for Karen. A few minutes later I told Karen I was ready to push.
12:10 We got to meet our little Austin!
Childbirth is truly amazing. I am so grateful that I was able to experience giving birth to our 3 children naturally (although I must say I’m totally okay with the fact that I won’t have to experience that kind of pain again! 🙂
