This past Friday, I emailed Sam and mentioned that we should pick one new adventure each weekend to which his response was “Let’s go to the beach!” All things considered right now in our life, I was thinking something along the lines of a new museum or a spray park, etc. So I was a little reluctant to go along with his idea. We woke up Saturday morning though, and he presented the idea again. I basically agreed to go as long as he promised a few things: it would only take us 2 hours to get there; it wouldn’t be raining when we got there; and he had to pack us up for the day.
I’ll just say that this was a trip to remember for sure. Here is what our road trip looked like: stuck on the Bay Bridge for an eternity…drove through multiple storms (the closer we got, the more it rained!)…ran out of snacks…Laina and Elijah went through periods of playing calmly, and then periods of fighting like cats and dogs…periods of time where Austin was crying, Elijah was pinching Laina, and Laina was yelling at Elijah….and it ended up taking us 4 hours to get there! Despite the fact that I was almost ready to divorce Sam when we were on our way there, we had an awesome time once we actually arrived. 🙂
We spent some time playing in the sand and ocean, and then some time on the boardwalk. Laina loved running from the waves, and Elijah loved watching her do it. He was more interested in playing in the sand. Little Austin just took at a nap the whole time. The ride home was less eventful, but still took us almost 3 hours. 7 hours in the car and 2 hours at the beach. It was certainly a memorable experience, but I don’t think we’ll be trying it again next weekend ;).
