Flexibility

Our kids will one day realize (if they haven’t already) that we do not possess the quality of planning ahead too often. We tend to make decisions on a more spur of the moment basis, which can sometimes can good and sometimes be bad. Last weekend, we decided at the last minute to take the kids to a really cool park (River Farm) for the morning. Of course, on the way over there, both kids fell asleep in the car (because Laina has been staying up reading and playing!– and Elijah is a teething machine!) So we drove around for 30 minutes or so while they snoozed, and then headed to the park. Well, apparently River Farm is closed on Sunday–which of course we would have known if we planned it out a little better. Plan B. We drove down the GW Parkway and pulled off onto one of the scenic spots overlooking the water. It was no River Farm, but Laina had a great time throwing rocks and sticks in the water and checking out insects, and Elijah had a nice time just watching his silly sister. Here are some pics.
