I never thought I’d say this….

but Laina is WAY into princesses these days. WAY. This is how we begin our day right now:
7:00 a.m….I am barely coherent and still trying to get myself geared up for the day.
L: Mommy, can I put my yellow dress on? And my necklace and shoes? And my tiara?
M: Yes, just give me a minute to wake up.
L: Okay. And then I’ll go find my princess books.
M: Okay
L: Mommy, I can’t find my yellow dress. Can you help me find it?! (with a sense of urgency)
M: We’ll find it, don’t worry.
L: And then I can wear it all day except for lunch time?

Anyway, you get the idea. Laina is in her princess role all day, every day right now. Dress up paper princesses, princess books, princess movies, princess outfits. Sam and I were pretty surprised by this phase (that is beginning to feel like a never-ending phase by the way!), because a few months ago she was pretending to be a boy and wanted to wear her “broccoli shirt” every day. I guess you just never know. We are going with it though because nothing makes her more happy right now.

Our friends Heather and Audrey invited us to go to the Disney Princesses on Ice this weekend, so we joined them and a million other little girls dresses as princesses at the Verizon Center. It was very cute to see all the little girls admire all the dresses, and of course, so fun to see Laina’s response to the show. She was in heaven. She and Audrey had a blast together. Had some lunch, watched the show, danced around, ate cotton candy for the first time, pretended to be princesses…does it get any better?!
