L and I were hanging out and eating lunch the other day, and here are a few of the chats we had:
Laina: I think I want to live in a house by myself.
Me: Really? Mommy, Daddy and Elijah would miss you. Would you miss us?
Laina: Well, maybe one day when I’m bigger I’ll live in a house by myself. For now, I’ll live in this house. But in a couple days when I’m bigger, I’ll have a house on my own.
Me: How will you buy a house?
Laina: …long pause…But girls don’t work. (oh geesh!)
Me: Of course they do. Blah blah blah…then I explain how I used to work and I will go back to work when she and Elijah are older, etc etc
Laina: But your work is at home. That’s what Daddy says.
A few minutes later as we are finishing our lunch, we started talking about about Valentine’s Day, and Laina says to me, “Mom, you’re my boyfriend.”
There are so many of these kinds of conversations during the day–too many to remember, but at least we can look back and reminisce about a few of them! 🙂
