Dr. Seuss’s birthday is a big deal! Last year, Laina dressed up as Cindy Lou Who, and this year she wanted to be a Star Bellied Sneetch. Super cute. Unfortunately, we had a snow day on the day that the students were supposed to dress up as their favorite character–and Laina was actually really bummed out about that particular snow day. She had her outfit all planned out, and was really looking forward to sporting her Sneetch costume. So, after shaking it off, she decided to make lemonade out of lemons and celebrate Dr. Seuss Day anyway! She asked Austin, and ELijah and I who are favorite characters were, and then she proceeded to create snacks that looked like these characters. We had a Grinch, Lorax, and Sneetch made out of things like cheese, cucumbers, oranges, carrots, raisins, yogurt, peanut butter, etc. I love her creativity. We then read all of the Dr. Seuss books we have in the house, and then watched “Horton Hears a Who.” A Dr. Seuss Day AND snow day all in one!
The dress up day at school was rescheduled, so Laina got to wear her Sneetch outfit afterall! She said she was the only one in her class who dressed up, but she did not care one bit!
