Oh yeah and so do Sam, Casey, Laina, Elijah, and Austin…and Lemon

Two months away…

from being two years old! At 22 months Laina is having more fun and being more expressive than ever. Sam and I are both in agreement that life just does not get any more fun than having a two-year-old (well, near two y.o.) We’d rather spend our time doing nothing other than hanging out with her because we are afraid we are going to miss out on the fun.

Some new stuff this month:
* Laina has now decided that instead of the typical handshake greeting, she prefers to show anyone and everyone her belly. Oh my. We’re talking EVERYONE. We were at a musical performance the other day, and she went up to a man trying to enjoy the music and just lifted her shirt. She is SO proud of her belly button, and loves to show it off–that’s for sure. I think Sam is getting a little worried about the length of time this will last!
*Taking a shower! A few weeks ago, I was giving her a bath and she kept looking up at the faucet. So, we turned it on and the rest is history. It’s hysterical to watch her wash her little body and stick her head under the water and giggle. She has a blast.
*She now likes to walk up and down the stairs on her own, and get into the car by herself. Sometimes she likes to try to unlock the door as well.
*Hiding under the blanket with Mommy or Daddy (or, Mommy AND Daddy preferably). We’ve had some sweet moments with the 3 of us under the blanket hiding from Petey and Ellie. I’m not sure P & E are quite as excited as we are about the game. Laina loves to whisper and say “Shhhh” and “Be quiet” under the blanket. She likes to peak out and see if either of the cats are “coming to get us.”
*She is now singing parts of the alphabet. It’s adorable.
*She’s coloring more. And sometimes trying to color inside the lines.
*Tea Pawty!!! Oh yes, the infamous tea party. She LOVES having a tea party with anyone who is at our house. Sam and I have had at least one tea party a day the past few weeks, and she also likes to invite anyone else to join in. It’s so fun to watch her do this, because every time she thinks of something new to incorporate into the party, and we really get to see her imagination at work.
*Types and Categories: She is beginning to ask “What type of monkey?” or “What type of cow?”. This is really fun especially trying to come up with “types” of cows. Uh, brown?
*Sing-a-longs. She’s enjoyed singing for a while, but she is now able to sing along with us more and more. Once we are done with one song, she asks “What’s next?” Her favorite song right now is “Happy Birthday to you.” She sings this to her friend Gianna on a daily basis because we recently went to her b-day party. She also still loves Itsy Bitsy Spider and Wheels on the Bus.
*Experimenting with numbers above 10. She enjoys learning to count, and I find it especially cute to hear her say “Eighteen, Nineteen, Twentyteen.”
*Laina is still a non-stop chatterbox — and we love every bit of it. Just never know what she’s going to say. “Put bra on” while she’s looking at a man reading at the pool. “Where happened to fire truck” during any given car ride (for the entire said car ride.) “I love you sweet Elly Belly” while giving Ellie hugs and kisses. “Go ahead and shave” to her Daddy when he’s asking me if he should shave. The list goes on.

Love this little girl to pieces. “Little sack of sugar I could eat you up!”
