Storytelling

A few days ago, Laina took the shortest nap EVER (!!) and we didn’t really have anything planned for that afternoon, so we decided to walk to the playground. On our walk, we ran into a grandmother and her 6 year old granddaughter, Jackie, and three year our granddaughter, JuJu (Julia.) Laina was taken by these little girls, and rather than continue heading to the playground, Laina wanted to follow these little girls. We walked around Fairlington for a while, and came to a bus stop. Who knew that we would spend almost an hour in this bus stop with our new friends??!! Laina sat on the bench for most of the time and watched and interacted with these little girls. Jackie was so sweet to Laina, and kept giving her hugs and kisses. They also sang songs (some of which Laina is familiar with), watched all of the buses go by, chased each other around the bus stop, jumped up and down, etc. It was all very cute to observe. Eventually we all parted ways. That evening, Laina told me all about her afternoon with Jackie and JuJu. This is basically how the “story” went:
Jackie…..jump….hug….kiss…bus….run…hug. she repeated a similar story when Sam got home. That was the first time we have heard her tell us about her day. Such a sweet moment.
