Where is my buddy Hex??

We drove up to PA on Saturday morning to spend time with Bill, Alicia, Pat, and Julia (and of course, Hex!) To give you an idea of just how spoiled we were, within an hour of arriving, we were served homemade pizza and homemade butternut squash soup for lunch. Yes, for lunch. It was delish. Laina loved it too….she especially seemed to like the pizza which had spinach, tomatoes, ricotta, and mozzarella. Mmmmmmmm as Laina would say.
We spent the day just hanging around the house visiting–Laina got to explore in a new house, and play with (or some might say harass) Bill and Alicia’s dog, Hex. He is a big teddy bear of a dog who has a great (and tolerant!) personality. Laina quickly found all of Hex’s toys and made them her own. At some point, Hex apparently decided he would try to play tug-0-war with Laina, but Laina wasn’t having it. These two were very cute together. The other thing that Laina loved to do at their house was play on Hex’s bed that is directly beside Bill and Alicia’s bed. She made many trips to the bedroom so she could jump and roll around on Hex’s bed. The anticipation of making the stroll back there made her squeal in excitement. So cute.
Laina also had a blast playing with everyone else. Alicia taught her some new “tricks,” and Bill got some snuggle time in the Laina. By the end of the weekend, Laina was saying Bill, Hex, and Alicia (this one was a little tricky to decipher.) I’m sure she’ll keep practicing though as she tends to do.
So getting back to the food =)….we had fresh pasta with roasted veggies tossed in a cream sauce (homemade of course), garlic bread, salad, and an apple cake. Oh yeah, and spinach dip and beer bread for appetizer. This morning, blueberry pancakes were on the menu. Unfortunately, not all of us were able to enjoy these due to the amount of fun had the previous night ;). All of this talk about food is making me hungry. Going to go eat something now!

P.S….Laina repeated Hex’s name a bunch of times during the car ride home–I think she already missed him. Don’t worry though, she was super excited to see Petey and Ellie when she got home =).
