15 months???

 

Each month that goes by, I think I become increasingly more in a state of denial that Laina is growing up so fast. Every time I look at “baby” pictures of her, I remember the many days of her sleeping on us, snuggling with us whenever we wanted to, depending on us (me) for food, being content with simply studying our faces….Now she is little Miss Independent (which is great!), but there are definitely days when I really miss just how much she needed us back then!
At 15 months, her little personality is booming and she is on the go-go-go. Really. Sam and I had a conversation this morning about how incredible it is to watch Laina wake up every single morning completely ready to take on the day with such energy, wonder, and excitement. There doesn’t seem to be a minute that goes by that she isn’t taking it all in. It truly is an amazing thing to be able to watch your child day in and day out LOVING life. It’s a motivator for us to take more time to enjoy life to it’s fullest.
Like every month, there are too many new little developments to be able to capture all of them, but some of them are….

-a few new signs: I love you, fish, sleep, cat, dog, play
-new animal sounds : owl, horse, dog
-some new words: help, computer, come on, please, gra-ma, read, brrrrr, tea, band aid, etc.
-She has also become increasingly interested in balls. She now likes to kick, throw, roll her ball. It’s especially funny to watch her carry around this very large ball (it’s almost as big as she is!) She looks very proud when she carries it around.
-She also likes to play “Boom.” She comes over to Sam or I (and sometimes the cats), turns around, and falls backwards on our laps and says “Boom.”
Walking around the house pointing out all the things she isn’t supposed to touch, and saying “No, no.” Too cute.
-She loves looking in the refrigerator and examining all of the food (and saying “WOW!” at each item
-Loves playing instruments that she can blow—loves a recorder we borrowed from a friend
-Last month, Laina learned how to say Santa and “Ho, Ho, HO” whenever she saw Santa….now, she says “Ho, Ho, Ho” when she sees red things. The other day, we went to Target and she said it when she saw the big red logo
-Practicing her words and signs. At this point, we have counted about 55 words or so…we are completely cheesy and have been keeping track of most of the words she says. She has about 15 signs that she does….my favorite being “I love you” (although we’ve only seen that one twice!)
