19 months

19 months. No way. I know I must sound so redundant, but it just doesn’t seem possible for time to pass by so quickly. Maybe it’s because we see Laina’s progression on a daily basis, so I witness how much changes in such a short period of time. Regardless, we are trying to soak in this time with Laine monster.
So, what has she been up to this month? Here are a few things:

-Counting! She can pretty much count to 10 now–with a couple numbers missing here and there =) She likes to count when we go up/down stairs!
-The alphabet. She now loves to point out letters in her books, on peoples shirts, in stores. She knows most letters now, and gets very excited when she gets to show off in front of us.
-This is a big one—the transition from saying “I-ya” to “Ellie.” I wish I could explain just how much she loves Ellie, but it’s just not possible. I don’t think anything brings her more joy on an ongoing basis. She gets so excited EVERY time she sees Ellie. It’s just adorable. Actually, part of her nap routine involves snuggling with Mommy or Daddy in the chair, and calling out to Ellie until she comes to see Laina before she takes her nap. Laina makes it known that she isn’t ready to get in the crib until she gets a kiss from her Ellie =).
-More experimentation with combining words. Some of her favorite phrases right now are: “There you go,” “Oh my goodness,” “I like it,” “I did it!” She also has been saying “Hey, Case” a lot these days which Sam and I find especially amusing. It’s also pretty funny to hear her say things like “awesome” and “whoa baby.”
-She now loves saying her own name. She said it for the first time the other day, and now we hear it frequently throughout the day…especially when she is chatting upstairs in her crib before going to bed.
-When we are at the playground or just out and about, she likes to point out boys and girls (and men and “yadies.”) At the playground, she often walks right up to someone and says “Boy!” and the proceeds to point out all of his body parts as well as any letter he may have on his shirt. Grammy got to witness this the other day and found it very funny! I guess I should add that sometimes Laina doesn’t quite get the gender correct, so that makes it a bit interesting when she walks up to a girl and says “boy.” 😉
